FAQ
Why a 56 Imperial?
I worked on another website. During the research for it I found a 55 Imperial and felt in love with those taillights.
The owner offered me a 56 Imperial he had for sale. This on I liked much more: 12 volt electrics, nicer side moldings, pushbutton automatic and the integrated rear bumper.
I started collecting information about 56 Imperials. That was in the year 2000.
2007 I made the first version of this website, the goal was to find out, how many still exist today.
Why is it called 1956 Imperial and not 1956 Chrysler Imperial?
At this time Imperial was an own make, Chrysler want to compete with other highprice makes.
Show us your 56 Imperial!
No problem, here it is:
No joke, I don’t own a 56er Imperial yet. Only this hood emblem. It should fit the car which was offered to me as I wrote above. It was this 2-door Hardtop: Southampton. It was missing the hood emblem. The company I worked for closed and I lost my job. No money, no Imperial.

Marco, thanks for the link. I will get some pictures for the site.
I own C56-9095, C56-2907, and C56-5329. The first two are drivable, the last one has no engine. Would you like to include my cars in your registry? I can send you photos.
I live in Sweden and i own a nice imperial VIN C56 1418 . Bought it on Ebay in 2008. It is a C73 4-door, one of only 6,821 made. 1956 was the second year of the Imperial as a separate, stand-alone make from Chrysler Corp. This is an original California car that was sold new at Royal Chrysler in San Bernardino and i got the original license frames on it. The car had 55,800 original miles on it, and it has the original, unmolested 354 cubic inch “Hemi” engine, and the Powerflite pushbutton automatic.
You can se pictures on my Website along with my other cars.
Keep up the good work
Best Regards
Ove
Miss Pearl is a wonderful four door limo. When I look closer (dashboard) it has the same issue like my 56 NY 2door ht. The horn ring has broken. So I’m looking round for a 1613 083 (moPar parts number) horn ring. Any ideas where to get a NOS or like new horn ring? Thank you very much.
P.S.: wonderful page, Marco – congrats.
